On Tuesday our Prep students had a very special Firefighter visit from the Geelong unit. They taught students some very important emergency skills such as how to identify an emergency worker, calling 000 and the importance of speaking to their families about a “safe” place to gather if there is a fire at home. The firefigthers ran a drill for the preps where they were able to practice how to keep themselves safe in an emergency by getting down low and crawling along the ground. The firefighters dressed up in their protective gear and explained why they need to have each item and how they use it. It was a fantastic opportunity to have first hand experience with the learning we have made in our PBL unit around community in our classroom. We look forward to having them back next term!
