Middle Learning Community teacher
My name is Kieran Ryan, I teach in the MLC at Christ the King. I qualified as a teacher from Australian Catholic University- Aquinas Campus in 1998. I qualified with a duel Bachelor of Arts where I majored in Theology with minors in History and Psychology as well as with a Bachelor of Teaching.
In my 20 years of teaching, I have taught in primary schools in Benalla, Melbourne, Townsville and Geelong. As well as being a classroom teacher, I have also spent time as a Physical Education Coordinator, Maths Co-ordinator and Religious Education Leader. Being a leader across different curriculum areas has allowed my to explore and use a variety of teaching strategies in my classroom.
Recently I completed a Masters of Leadership from Australian Catholic University. This study has enabled me to examine different approaches to leadership and explore which approach is most suitable for me in leading children as well as other adults.
My motivation in teaching is to make a difference in the life of each person I meet. I enjoy seeing improvement in my students academically, socially and emotionally. I believe that children need a calm, consistent learning environment where they are encouraged to take a risk and surprise themselves with what they are capable of.
