Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts
Qualifications / Professional Interests and Expertise
My name is Gabby Pratt and I have been teaching at Christ the King for the past 20 years. I am a past student and both my nieces also attended Christ the King. Another generation of our family has started at CTK this year!
Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked for the Commonwealth Bank in a number of roles before my last position, as a Team Manager, was made redundant. This presented an opportunity for me to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher. I have a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in History from Deakin University.
Throughout my time at Christ the King I have taught in the Junior Learning Community and Middle Learning Community and have been a Maths Leader. I was involved in implementing School Wide Positive Behaviours and was part of the first Family School Partnership team. I was also part of the Change 2 team. This team worked on establishing processes which were designed to empower all staff to take responsibility for their own ongoing professional learning.
My current role is that of Learning Diversity Leader and Intervention Teacher in the PLC and JLC. I implement the MiniLIt Sage Intervention Program for children in Years 1 and 2.
As part of my role as Learning Diversity Leader, I coordinate the requirements for the NCCD and organise PSG meetings for families with children who are on the NCCD count. I also liaise with families and allied health professionals to ensure we are meeting the needs of children who require additional support with their learning.
Recent Professional Development:
2022 – USER B Accreditation – completed through Pearson Education
2022 – MiniLit Sage Training
What drives me to be the best teacher at Christ the King
I am very fortunate to be a teacher at Christ the King, where all staff work together to provide the children with diverse learning opportunities. I want all children to be successful and to love learning. I provide a learning environment where they feel safe, where there are high expectations and they are encouraged to take risks. I bring consistency, diligence and warmth to my job in the hope that I will inspire and encourage these traits in the children as well.
