Professional Interests and Expertise:
My journey at Christ the King began as a specialist Science teacher in 2013 where I taught all students from P-6. This gave me a firm foundation on which to build my student management skills as well as content delivery. It helped me to become a very reflective teacher as I was always looking for ways to improve the lesson for the next group of students. Since then, I have transitioned into various classroom teaching roles from Foundation through to Grade 4. I took on various leadership roles supporting sustainability, student leadership, digital technologies and STEM education. These roles gave me many opportunities to present my understandings and experiences to our staff, as well as at state-wide conferences, networking events and was recorded for the support of professional development for current and future teachers. More recently, I completed my certification to be recognised as a ‘Highly Accomplished Teacher’, which was an opportunity to celebrate my achievements, reflect on my teaching practices and further improve my understanding of effective teaching strategies.

Drive:
As an educator, I have always prioritised student wellbeing. I believe that by supporting students to feel safe and confident in themselves is imperative to their success as a learner. I always aim to build strong relationships with my students so that we can work together to improve their learning outcomes, social skills and mindset. From there, data drives my teaching to target student needs. I thrive on watching student data grow and exploring the best ways to keep them progressing. I value discussing these observations and strategies with students in the classroom and through our Learning Conversation time and engaging with parents about ways to work together to help their children succeed. I encourage students to take risks with their learning, try new things and work with different students to explore new ways of thinking and learning.
